  New route from Cologne-Bonn:

Germanwings to airport Rostock-Laage
The airport Rostock-Laage has been successful in winning a new airline partner for the summer timetable. From 1st May 2008 the low cost carrier Germanwings will operate the route Rostock-Laage – Cologne-Bonn three times weekly (Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays).

- We are proud to have won such a well-known partner like Germanwings for our region. It is a first step in the right direction, namely into the source markets which will generate additional traffic for Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. The attractive price structure of Germanwings does not only draw from the tourist but also from the business potential“, says Maria Muller, Managing Director of Airport Rostock-Laage GmbH.

- We are confident that next spring a large number of passengers will take a break at our beautiful Baltic Sea Coast and enjoy the fabulous landscape. However, for passengers from Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania Cologne is also worth a trip with its typical flair, the Rhineland way of life and the many cultural attractions. Many renowned companies have settled in the Rhine-Ruhr area – for example ten of the thirty DAX listed companies are based here. Therefore, this connection will also be of benefit to business passengers.“

The so-called ”Bath tub Baltic Sea“ is very popular in Germany: Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania is behind Bavaria the second most popular destination amongst domestic holiday makers. But also passengers from the coast can now get to the Rhineland quickly and for cheap air fares. Cologne is a top destination for city trips – the Cathedral of Cologne is the most frequented sight in Germany.
